ASUS Unveils Low-cost Smartphone in India
September 24, 2015

ASUS began sales of its first "affordable" smartphone, the ZenFone Go, in India in a bid to enter India's low-cost smartphone market segment and boost the company's market share, reported Taipei Times on September 24. Priced at 7,999 rupees (US$121; US$1=66.1 rupees), ZenFone Go will be sold at local e-commerce marketplace Flipkart and ASUS's 120 retail stores in India. ASUS aims to ship around three million smartphones to India this year, with a goal of grasping a 5% market share locally by 2016. Aside from India, the company plans to launch one or two low-cost smartphones each year in other emerging markets, including Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand.
